I am currently employed at NEXT: a Division of Birthright Israel Foundation as a web developer/IT associate. At NEXT I manage our database, as well as, developing pages and dashboards for our internal web application. Working at NEXT has taught me not only about different coding languages, but also about how customized web application is vitally important to running a business.
At Fluxure Advanced Motion Media, Inc. I was finally able to start using the web developing skills that I had taught myself. Until then most of the sites I had created were for small projects for my friends, acquaintances, and myself. Finally, I was able to create and work on websites for clients and larger projects. While working at Fluxure, I worked on a variety of different websites, which led to even more detailed learning about PHP and SQL.
Working at KJ Technologies was my first experience in the business world. While working as an IT Associate, some of my duties included setting up new machines at companies. This presented the opportunity to learn more about the different needs of companies and allowed me to recognize the potential for web applications to streamline operations and render them more productive.
At Queens College, I decided to major in economics and minor in BALA (Business and Liberal Arts.) Already having a solid background in coding from previous projects and self-taught skills, I thought getting a better sense of the business world would benefit me. My education has provided me with the tools not only to create websites for businesses, but to create more efficient ways for businesses to run using technology.
It was in HAFTR high school where I finally decided to get serious about web development. I installed Dreamweaver on my computer and started to teach myself to code. In HAFTR I took Advanced Placement Computer Graphics which helped me master Adobe Creative Suite. From here on, my passion for web development was solidified.
